Nylon Overmolded Filter Assembly for the Automotive Industry
Hewitt Molding Company manufactures a filter assembly for an automotive customer, using an insert overmolding process. The overmolded filter assembly is used within an oil filter reservoir application. Using white nylon 30% glass filled material; the overmolding process is applied to the filter piece, with a final length of 116mm and width of 95mm, and an insert filter wall thickness of 160µm. Our customer provided a CAD print and a 3-D model for us, and we completed design work in-house. |

Hewitt Molding uses automated and in-process horizontal process control at our facility to oversee all production steps for this assembly and ensure that the full 150,000 piece annual order is reliably manufactured. In addition, we carry out in-process CMM inspection and SPC production process control throughout production. Upon the completion of manufacturing, we ship to our customer's plant under a J.I.T. schedule, where the filter assembly is packaged. |
